Thank you for purchasing a Firefly Braai.


WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire burn hazard or other injury, read the manual carefully and completely before using your Braai / Boma Firepit.

Safety Instructions

  1. The Braai / Boma Firepit must never be used indoors or for indoor heating purposes.
  2. This Braai / Boma Firepit is not intended to be installed in or on vehicles or boats.
  3. Children should not be left unattended or alone in an area where the Braai / Boma Firepit is being used. Do not allow them to sit, stand or play around the Braai / Boma Firepit at any time.
  4. Do not touch the Braai / Boma Firepit whilst in operation, or until the Braai / Boma Firepit has cooled down after use.
  5. Do not use petrol, paraffin, alcohol, or other highly flammable fluids to ignite charcoal. If using charcoal starter fluid (not recommended), remove any fluid that may have drained through the vents holes before lighting the fire.
  6. Do not add charcoal starter fluid or charcoal infused with lighter fluid to already hot charcoal. Cap starter fluid bottle after use and place a safe distance away from the braai.
  7. Use heat-resistant braai gloves while cooking, adjusting grid, adding firewood or charcoal.
  8. Extinguish charcoal when finished cooking.
  9. Never dump hot charcoal where it might be stepped on or be a fire hazard. Never dump ashes or charcoal before they are fully extinguished.
  10. Do not use this Braai / Boma Firepit unless all parts are in place. This Braai / Boma Firepit must be properly assembled according to the assembly instructions. Improper assembly may be dangerous.
  11. Do not leave the Braai / Boma Firepit unattended while cooking.
  12. Do not operate the Braai / Boma Firepit in close proximity to combustible materials. Use only in well ventilated areas. Do not use in buildings, garages, sheds or other such enclosed areas.
  13. Keep the area surrounding the Braai / Boma Firepit free from combustible materials including, fluids, trash and vapours such as gasoline or charcoal lighter fluid.

Operating Instructions 

Warning: Please read the following instructions carefully before attempting to assemble, operate or install the product. The Braai / Boma Firepit becomes extremely hot and can cause burning. Failure to comply with these instructions may result in serious bodily injury.

Note: Remove all packaging, including straps & wrapping paper, before using the Braai / Boma Firepit. 

How to use your Braai / Boma Firepit

  • Before lighting a fire, Choose a proper location to braai
  • Only use this Braai / Boma Firepit in a well-ventilated area.
  • Do not use in a garage, building, or any other enclosed area.
  • Keep the Braai / Boma Firepit on a secure, level surface at all times.
  • Do not use Braai / Boma Firepit within 5 meters of any combustible material.
  • Avoid using in strong wind, which could cause potential veld fires
  • Combustible materials include, but are not limited to, wood or treated wood decks, patios, and porches, natural forest or grass. 

 Preparing the Braai / Boma Firepit for lighting (Once assembly is completed)

  • Remove the braai grid
  • Light the charcoal or firewood using newspaper, paper or Lighter cubes
  • Stack your charcoal or firewood on top of starter material
  • Light the newspaper or lighter cubes
  • Always wear heat resistant gloves when removing the grid or touching the body of the firepit 

Care and Maintenance

Please note: Due to the nature and function of this design that some of the paint on parts 1,2&3 will scratch during assembly, this will not alter the functionality or durability of the product.

There is a possibility that with excessive heat that the parts might warp, we have tested this product extensively and even with the worst amount of warping the product could still be assembled and dismantled without any difficulty. 


Follow a few basic maintenance instructions to keep your grill looking and grilling better for years to come!

  • Remove accumulated ashes and old charcoal from the bottom of the Firepit
  • Dismantle the product as per instructions
  • Use water and dishwashing liquid with a plastic brush, sun or towel dry
  • Medium and small stainless-steel grid is dishwasher able
  • Stack away in carry bag, ready for the next adventure

  • Plates 1,2,3: Mild Steel Plate, painted with high durable heat resistant paint
